SACRAMENTO – California Republican Party Chairman Ron Nehring today issued the following statement praising Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell for introducing a measure to repeal Obamacare: 

"Republicans are continuing to press ahead to repeal job-killing Obamacare, and we’re excited to see Senator McConnell moving ahead in the Senate now that the House has acted. At a time the economy continues to struggle, it’s important to repeal this ill-conceived plan and follow it up with an honest debate over how we can expand coverage, reduce costs and empower people with a patient-centered approach to health care in America."

"Today begins the month-long celebration of African-American heritage and the history of their extraordinary accomplishments. The California Republican Party takes great pride in celebrating the legacy of the contributions that African-Americans have made to our country and our state.

"Historically, the Republican Party has enjoyed a great political bond with African-Americans -- Republicans worked to pass the Thirteenth Amendment, which outlawed slavery, the Fourteenth, which guaranteed equal protection under the laws, and the Fifteenth, which helped secure voting rights for African-Americans. That historic relationship is why the first African-American congressmen and California's first African-American legislators were Republicans. The CRP proudly joins with members of the African-American community in celebrating the entrepreneurs, inventors, and political leaders who have helped make this country the greatest nation on Earth."
